Former champion David Haye (25-2, 23KOs) is one of the names being considered as a future opponent for Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15KOs), who hold's the WBA's "regular" heavyweight title. Haye has been inactive since the July decision loss to WBO/WBA/IBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko.

The British fighter promised to retire in October, but prior to Povetkin's title winning effort over Ruslan Chagaev, Haye's comments appeared on BoxingScene.com where he pledged his support to Povetkin.

Povetkin returns on the tentative date of December 17. A few names, like Evander Holyfield and Alexander Dimitrenko, have been mentioned as possible opponents. During a recent press conference in Moscow, Povetkin's manager Vladimir Hryunov was quoted by BoxingScene's Alexey Sukachev - stating that a fight with Haye will also be considered.

Hryunov: “Haye will surely be considered, as he is ranked #2 by the World Boxing Association."
