In an entertaining fight, former world champion Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (30-1-1, 12 KOs) and former interim world champion Diego “La Joya” Chaves (23-2-1, 19 KOs) battled to a twelve round draw on Saturday night at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Chaves came out throwing bombs, butting mostly air. Two unintentional headsets in round two left both fighters cut. More meaningful punches were landed by Bradley although Chaves had his moments also. Judge Julie Letterman scored the fight 116-112 for Chaves, Burt Clements scored it 115-113 for Bradley, and Craig Metcalfe scored it even 114-114.
“I thought I won eight rounds,” said Bradley. “We clashed heads right away I feel I may have a fracture in my left cheekbone.”
Chaves commented, “I thought it was a close fight. I thought I won the fight. I am not surprised what happened in the score.”
